DeKalb SRP

The DeKalb Summer Reading Partnership (DSRP) is a summer enrichment program convened by the Junior League of DeKalb County, sponsored by GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students (GEEARS) and funded by the United Way of Greater Atlanta.

The DSRP uses public-private partnerships to get high-quality books into the homes of children (birth to eight) and gives parents practical tools to help their children become early learners. Throughout the summer, libraries, summer programs, museums and other institutions hold “book club reads” to model the researched based methods of reading books with children.  The books come to life as children enjoy arts and crafts, drama exercise, and other hands on activities designed to make the language in the stories meaningful.

Selected Books
GEEARS supplied the Junior League of DeKalb County with more than 4,000 books to be distributed through the DeKalb Summer Reading Partnership.  The 2017 DSRP Summer Reading Partnership books were selected around the theme of everyday heroes and helping children identify & celebrate those hereos.
